STUDIE A ČLÁNKY/STUDIES AND ARTICLES

VÁLKA, Josef
Vláda Alše Vřešťovského. Úsilí politiků husitů a zemské obce o obsazení politického prostoru
/ The Rule of Aleš Vřešťovský of Riesenburk. On Hussite Effort to Occupy the Land Political Space
ABSTRACT: Válka’s study forms part of research on the history of power in Bohemia and Moravia and presents a sequel to the article “Zikmund a husité ” (Sigismund and the Hussites) published in the previous volume of ČMM (1/2009). In the first part, the author considers the theory of ‘long duration’ of revolutions, the relationship of the Hussite Revolution and War and the role of ‘politicians’ in the attempts to terminate the revolution by mediation. The second part discusses the change of language and rules of discourse during the war from denunciation and implacability to peaceful solution of religious and political conflict through negotiations between the Hussites, the conciliarist church and Sigismund. The third part is devoted to the election of the land governor of Bohemia and Moravia, Aleš Vřešťovský of Riesenburk, and the group around him in the years 1433/4–1436. The author considers the functioning of this government as the peak of the uninterrupted Hussite activity aimed at occupying the political space by land institutions (diets), receiving the ‘Compactata’ (confirmation of the Four Articles of Prague) from the church and, from Sigismund’s side, the ‘capitulations’, e.g. privileges corroborating the traditional land rights along with the changes which took place in the course of the revolution. The author believes that the role of Vřešťovský’s government in the orderly termination of one era of the revolution has not been sufficiently appreciated by Czech historiography.
KEY WORDS: The Hussite Movement, politicians, the Hussites and the Council, land polity, land government, Aleš Vřešťovský of Riesenburk

Jacobini extra muros. Příspěvek k dějinám jakobínského hnutí v habsburské monarchii
/ Jacobini extra muros. A Contribution to the History of the Jacobin Movement in the Habsburg Monarchy
ABSTRACT: Since mid-twentieth century, the echo of the French Revolution outside of France became a prominent subject of research of the European historians. Their interest involved primarily the revolution’s partisans in a number of countries, who were imprecisely described as Jacobins (jacobini extra muros). In the countries of the Habsburg Monarchy, the main concern was with a group of so-called Viennese and Hungarian Jacobins, condemned in two show-trials in the years 1794–1795, some of whom were sentenced to death. Echoes of sympathy with the revolution appeared also in the Bohemian lands. These were (among others) connected also with the rebellion in the Czech-Moravian Highlands in the years 1796–1797, known as helvétská rebelie (Helvetian Rebellion) or frajmaurská vzpoura (Free-Mason Uprising).
KEY WORDS: Echoes of the French Revolution, Viennese and Hungarian Jacobins, helvétská rebelie (Helvetian Rebellion), repression

Nové poznatky ve zpřístupnění korespondence Františka Palackého. Úvaha o půvabu historického řemesla
/ New Findings on Accessing the Palacký Correspondence. Reflection on the Charm of the Historical Craft
ABSTRACT: The author identified the Austrian state official and statistician Karl Czoernig as the addressee of eleven letters of František Palacký written in the years 1829–1840 classified by two Prague archives as Palacký’s ‘letters to an unknown addressee’. From the letters, which Cyrill Franz Napp, the Abbot of the Augustinian monastery in Brno, received from Palacký, only two are preserved in the Augustinian collection of manuscripts of the Moravský zemský archiv v Brně (Moravian Provincial Archive in Brno), two other letters were originally held by private owners and only later put into public archives. One was recently bought (again as ‘Palacký’s letter to an unknown addressee’) by a private American collector in an auction hall in London. In the papers of Heinrich von Sybel preserved by the German Bundesarchiv in Merseburg there are two letters by František Palacký, which the historian’s son Jan Palacký sent to Sybel, his teacher.
KEY WORDS: František Palacký, letters in German, identification

„Nahraďme muže na jejich pracovních místech!“ Gender a nábor žen do zaměstnání v poúnorovém Československu
/ “Let us Supplant Men in Their Workplaces!” Gender and Recruitment of Women as Employees in the Post-February Czechoslovakia
ABSTRACT: The study focuses on the issue of female employment in Czechoslovakia with a special regard to the aspect of recruitment activities. Beside the means, it also follows the main reasons of this effort – the need for a numeral increase in the workforce, attempt to include women in the professions traditionally occupied by men and the ideological level. The focal point of the article is the gender reflection of female employees’ ideological images in the public sector and their common traits, which imply a more general character of the post-February society of Czechoslovakia.

Modernizační disciplinační teorie a historická kriminologie
/ Disciplinary Theory of Modernization and Historical Criminology
ABSTRACT: The study presents the development and interpretational potential of the disciplinary theories of modernization. The outcome are ‘etatistic’ concepts of rationalization, civilization and especially social disciplination depicted in the theory of disciplinary mechanisms ‘without an epicenter’ of Michel Foucault. The major innovation of the modernization models took place due to the controversy over the macro- and microconception of history. The change of research perspective shook the acculturation concept of popular culture and ended in the formation of the so-called interactive model. In the innovated form, the modernization theories continue to be more frequently utilized in the contemporary Czech historiography.
