CALL FOR PAPERS

THE QUANTITATIVE METHODS NETWORK

European Social Science History Conference, 5-7 March 1998

The aim of the network is to provide a forum at the coming European Social Science History Conference where historians and statisticians can discuss the use of advanced quantitative methods within the realm of social historical research. The network sessions will primarily focus on methodological and statistical issues, but papers which deal with the interpretations of statistical results are welcomed as well.

Most sessions are organized around a specific kind of statistical analysis. For instance, there will be sessions focused on either event history analysis, or multi-level regression analysis, or multivariate time-series analysis. Next to that, there are sessions which deal with quantitative methodological issues within a specific subdiscipline, f.i. in social mobility analysis or historical demography.

The next ESSH Conference will take place on 5-7 March 1998 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. More information about the conference can be found on the ESSH website, http://www.iisg.nl/ESSHC.

Everybody who wants to participate in the network, is kindly requested to contact one of the network chairmen,
