The Woodrow Wilson Center's Cold War International History Project is pleased to announce its forthcoming international conference on

"The Nordic Countries & the Cold War: New Evidence and Perspectives"

on June 24-28, 1998, in Reykjavik, Iceland.

The conference, cosponsored by the Institute of History of the University of Iceland, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and the CWIHP, will cover the strategic, political as well as cultural involvement of the Nordic countries in the Cold War and will feature presentations based on new archival evidence from Eastern and Western archives. Keynote speakers include John L. Gaddis (Yale U), Geir Lundestad (Norwegian Nobel Institute), and Georgy Arbatov (Moscow). The conference is made possible by grants from, among others, the Cultural Fund of the Nordic Council, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, The American-Scandinavian Foundation (New York), The Icelandic Ministry of Culture and Education, the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Finnish Embassy (Reykjavik) and the Willard Fiske Center/USIA (Reykjavik) and MORGUNBLADID.
