The _Journal of the History of Ideas_ is pleased to announce the conference "Culture and the Politics of Identity in Modern Romania" to be held at the Elisabeta Palace in Bucharest, Romania May 27-30, 1998.

The multi-disciplinary symposium will focus on mentalities, cultural forms, institutions and the construction of identities. It brings together scholars from Romania, US, Europe, and Israel.
