Twentieth Century Narratives; Tradition and Innovation.

Sixth conference of the International Society for the Study of European Ideas. 16-21 August 1998, Haifa University; Israel/

Papers are invited for the following workshop in the field of the history of sociology:

The Heidelberg Sociological School: Max and Alfred Weber, Karl Mannheim, Edgar Salin, Niorbert Elias and Erich Fromm.

No, there was not only Max Weber on whom the eyes of sociologists have been fixed for the last seventy years. during the 1920, the INSOSTA - Institute for state and sociological sciences - became the leading school of Historical Sociology in Germany. Under the leadership of Alfred Weber the Insosta hired ,many illustrious scholars; more than half of them Jews who found a particularly favourable atmosphere there, exceptional in an increasingly antisemitic Germany.

Other names include: Eberhard Gothein, Jacob Marschak, Carl J. Friedrich, Emil Lederer, Arnold Bergstraesser, Arthur Saly and Herbert Sultan.

Papers in English language are invited on all pertaining subjects
