Conference Announcement
The Center for German and European Studies at Georgetown University announces its 4th Annual Graduate Student Conference. We are inviting Master's and Doctoral Candidates in the humanities and social sciences to submit abstracts of no longer than 2 pages related to the changing face of Europe. Potential panels and topics for discussion include but are not limited to: nationalism and identity, the future of economic and political integration, common foreign and security policy, technology and innovation, immigration and ethnicity, trade and investment, election studies, etc.
Submissions should include a current resume and be postmarked by . A limited number of supplementary domestic and international travel grants are available.
Participation in the conference is restricted to students currently enrolled in degree-granting programs.
Previous conferences on German re-unification and European unity and diversity have sparked widespread interest in the United States and abroad, giving future scholars an opportunity to present their research in an environment of the peers.
The conference will be a two-day event held on Georgetown University campus October 24-25, 1998. The social program includes an informal cocktail reception Friday night and a formal dinner Saturday evening with a speaker to be announced at a later date. A continental breakfast and light lunch will be served on Saturday and Sunday.
The Center for German European Studies at Georgetown University hopes that you find our topic relevant to your research interests and encourages you to submit a proposal as soon as possible. Remember, abstracts postmarked by will receive the fullest consideration.
