Bei dem Symposium werden ausgewaehlte Themen und Forschungsperspektiven der anglo-amerikanischen Cultural Studies und der Kulturwissenschaften praesentiert. Ziel ist es, beide Ansaetze in Beziehung zu bringen und jene Themen zu identifizieren, die sowohl fuer den internationalen als auch oesterreichischen Forschungskontext relevant sind. Die einzelnen Programmbeitraege sind vor allem als fachliche Standortbestimmungen und als perspektivische Praesentationen geplant, sodass nicht der Hermetik bereits abgeschlossener Forschungen der Vorzug gegeben werden soll, sondern der diskursiven Eroerterung interdisziplinaerer Themen, Problemstellungen und weiterfuehrenden Loesungsvorschlaegen.
The conference will present selected trends and perspectives in Anglo-American Cultural Studies and the Germanic tradition of Kulturwissenschaften. The objective will be to moderate a debate between these two approaches and to identify those themes that are relevant to international, as well as Austrian contexts of scholarship. Conference participants are invited to present their views and reflections on the current state of their scholarly domains. In outlining novel vistas for research, the papers will not only serve as the basis for audience discussion, but also as an invitation to a continued dialogue across various disciplines engaged in the study of culture.
