NEGOTIATING BOUNDARIES: THE PAST AND THE PRESENT IN SOUTH-EASTERN EUROPE.

A seminar series and symposium at the University of Wales, Lampeter and Swansea.

This project seeks to draw into dialogue scholars based throughout the UK, the rest of Europe and the USA, who are pursuing innovative research programs which seek to trace connections between history and culture in the Balkans and the wider world.

Wednesday, October 29, Swansea 4.00 pm.
"International Intervention/National Invention: The League of Nations' Management of Minorities in the Interwar Balkans." Dr. Jane Cowan, School of Cultural and Community Studies, University of Sussex.

Thursday November 13, Lampeter 7.30 pm.
"The Macedonian Question in the 1920s and the Politics of History." Dr. Patrick Finney, Department of History, University of Wales Lampeter.

Thursday December 4, Lampeter 7.30 pm.
"Minorities Within a Minority: Jews, Old Calendrists and Women in an Exile Commune." Dr. Margaret Kenna Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Wales Swansea.

Thursday December 11, Lampeter 7.30 pm
"Boundaries and Identities: An Archaeological Case Study." Dr. John Chapman Department of Archaeology, University of Durham.
