Graduate students from any institution are invited to apply for this year's Intellectual History Summer School, jointly hosted by UCL and Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL). The Summer School offers graduate students a rare opportunity to acquire further training in the discipline of intellectual history and its different methodologies. It includes:

Special workshops
Masterclasses
Feedback on students' research
Advice on writing and publishing
Discussion of recently published work in intellectual history

Keynote lectures will be delivered by:

Ann Thomson (European University Institute, Florence): 'Enlightenment anticolonialism? Raynal, Diderot and L'Histoire des Deux-Indes'

Quentin Skinner (QMUL): 'Machiavelli and the virtues of the prince'

Applications are welcome both from current doctoral students in intellectual history and related disciplines (the histories of philosophy, literature, politics, and science) and from MA students hoping to conduct future research in these fields.

The summer school starts on the evening of Monday 4 September and ends on the afternoon of Thursday 7 September 2017. It will take place at the main UCL campus in Bloomsbury and students will be charged a participation fee of £185. This will cover tuition, lunches, and an evening reception on the first day. Those who require accommodation during the course can book a room in one of the UCL Halls of Residence from £52.50 per night.

The deadline for applications has now been extended to 28 July 2017. To apply, please send a CV and a brief abstract of current or future research to Shiru Lim (s.lim.10@ucl.ac.uk) by this date.
