The German Historical Institute London would like to announce its Seminar Lectures for Autumn 2004.

The Seminars will be held at 5 p.m. (5.30 p.m. on 28 October!) in the Seminar Room of the German Historical Institute, 17 Bloomsbury Square, London WC1A 2NJ

28 October (together with The IHR): Dr Ulrike Weckel (TU Berlin): „Forced Insight? Allied Screening of Documentaries on the Liberation of Nazi Concentration Camps and their Effects on German Viewers, 1945/46.”

9 November: Professor Stefan Berger (Glamorgan): „Remaking National Histories in France, Germany, Great Britain, and Italy, 1945 to the Present.”

30 November: Professor Karen Hagemann (Glamorgan): „Citizens and Soldiers: Masculinities in Politics and War in the Period of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.”

7 December: PD Dr. Thomas Brechenmacher (Rome): “Pope Pius XI, Eugenio Pacelli, and the Persecution of Jews in Germany, 1933 to 1938: New Vatican Sources.”

14 December: Patrick Bahners (Frankfurt/Main): “Macaulay’s Machiavellian Moment: 1827 and the Whig Interpretation of History.”
