Call for papers

Manifestions of national Identity in modern Europe
University of Minnesota, Minneapolis
May 18-19-20, 2001

Proposals for presentations are solicited on the theme of the conference. Papers are welcome from historical and contemporary perspectives and from a wide variety of academic disciplines in the social sciences, the humanities and arts and literatures. The conference intends to be an interdisciplinary meeting of minds.

Papers on the following core topics are solicited:
Literary Representations of Nationhood
Monuments & Memory
Enlightenment & Concepts of Nation
European Unification & the Emergence of New Nationalisms

Proposals: Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words. Presentations are limited to 20 minutes. Deadline: The deadline for submission of abstracts January 15, 2001. Abstracts should be sent and questions regarding the conference should be addressed to
