SECOND NOTICE

"Film and History" Cold War Issue, Call for Papers.

Deadline: January 1, 1999

The journal "Film and History" is planning to devote an issue to films of the Cold War years (c. 1947-1989). We would welcome essays which explore the various ways in which the Cold War culture influenced films of the period. Topics might include documentaries ("Victory at Sea", 1954 or "The Atomic Cafe", 1982), fictional films in which Cold War issues are dealt with directly (as in "My Son John", 1952; "Walk East on Beacon", 1952; or "Kiss Me Deadly", 1955), films in which these issues are displaced in popular film genres (the World War II combat film or the western). In addition, we plan to include a bibliographical essay.

For more information on "Film and History", its past, and the articles which have appeared in it, see the Film & History Web site at: http://h-net.msu.edu/~filmhis/

If you are interested in submitting an essay to the Cold War issue of Film and History, please send a 150-200 word prospectus by January 1, 1999 to:
