The BERLIN FEMINIST SCIENCE STUDIES WORKING GROUP (BFSSW)

- NEW MEMBERS ARE WELCOME -

Who we are:

The Berlin Feminist Science Studies Working Group (BFSSW) was founded in January 2000 by two research fellows of the Max-Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin (Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte, MPIWG). The goal was to create a network of scientists from MPIWG and other Berlin-based institutions or projects working in the field of feminist and science studies. Currently the open group consists of historians of science, biologists, psychologists, environmental scientists, medical doctors, cultural scientists and philosophers. The broad interdisciplinary composition of the group is reflected in a wide range of methods, theories and practices from humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and medical science.

What we did and what we do:

In the past we organized sessions in German and international conferences and developed a common publication project. Actually we meet once in a month at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin to discuss texts mainly in the field of science and gender studies, but also on ethnographical, philosophical or on other issues related to our current research activities.

Next Meeting: 23.10.2006
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Meetingplace: Max Planck Institute for the History of Science
Boltzmannstrasse 22
14195 Berlin-Dahlem
