Wolfson Chair Doctoral Fellowship in Jewish Thought

The Department of Jewish History and Bible of the University of Haifa is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Wolfson Chair Doctoral Fellowship in Jewish Thought for the 2024-25 academic year. The Wolfson Fellowship is designated for outstanding students registering in the departmental doctoral program and is granted for a period of four years. The annual fellowship award is in the amount of 78,000 ILS.
(Tuition is covered in keeping with the terms of the Graduate Authority.)
Preference will be given to students whose proposed research in the history of Jewish Thought is well-suited to the areas of expertise of the department faculty. Note that our department hosts world-renowned Digital Humanities projects that present ideal opportunities for Ph.D. research projects. A list of the faculty may be consulted here.
Applicants must have received a Masters Degree in a field relevant to their proposed doctoral research and have been awarded a grade of no less than 90 on their MA thesis.
Candidates are invited to submit applications by May 15, 2024 by email to jewhistdep@univ.haifa.ac.il

that must include:
1. a current curriculum vitae
2. two letters of recommendation (to be sent directly by recommenders)
3. a preliminary thesis proposal containing a description of up to ten pages in length of the
candidate’s anticipated dissertation topic
4. complete transcripts of grades from previous and current university degree programs (BA & MA)
5. BA & MA diplomas (proof of completion of degrees)
6. Publications
7. a letter of consent to supervise from a departmental faculty member

N.B. The University of Haifa reserves the right not to award this fellowship; the decisions of the
Fellowship Committee are final and not subject to appeal. The scholarship is granted pending full admission to the doctoral program according to the academic and administrative regulations of the Bloom Graduate School of the University of Haifa.
