The Cambridge German History Research Group invites proposals for papers (20-30 minutes) on the theme of “Gender in German History”. Presenters can engage any period from 1500 to the present day.
We are interested in papers that explore the historical aspects of gender, sexuality, feminism and masculinity (etc.) in relation to broader themes, processes and events in German-speaking settings. We welcome multidisciplinary approaches to German studies that use gender as a methodological framework, and encourage presenters to reflect on how gender as an analytical category adds to the study of German history more generally.
The German History Research Group is a hybrid online and in-person seminar that brings together postgraduate and early career scholars working on German history (in the broadest sense), offering them an opportunity to broaden their network, present their research and exchange ideas. It is funded by the DAAD Cambridge Hub with funds from the German Federal Foreign Office. Seminars will take place between May and June 2023. Deadline for paper proposals (200-300 words) and a short bio is 25 April 2023.
