Generationenbewußtsein und Generationenkonflikte in Antike und Mittelalter
sind an der Universität Bamberg
ab dem 1. Oktober 2004
13 Promotionsstipendien (monatlich 1000 Euro) in den Fächern Alte Geschichte, Anglistik, Deutsche Philologie des Mittelalters, Gräzistik, Katholische Theologie, Latinistik, Mittelalterliche Geschichte, Romanistik, Ur- und frühgeschichtliche Archäologie sowie 1 Postdoktorandenstipendium (monatlich 1416 Euro) (in Alter Geschichte) zu vergeben. Verheirateten- und Kinderbetreuungszuschläge können ggfs. gewährt werden, die Förderungsdauer beträgt in der Regel 2 Jahre.
Voraussetzungen für die Bewerbung sind ein zur Promotion berechtigender, überdurchschnittlicher Studienabschluß sowie nach Möglichkeit ein thematisch ins Kolleg passendes Arbeitsvorhaben, für das Postdoc-Stip. zudem eine Promotion in Alter Geschichte.

Research Training Group (“Graduiertenkolleg”)
“Generational Self-Consciousness and Intergenerational Conflicts in Classical Antiquity and the Middle Ages”

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has provided funding for a new Research Training Group (“Graduiertenkolleg”) to begin in October 2004 at the University of Bamberg (Germany). 13 graduate students in the fields of Ancient History, Ancient Greek, Latin, Medieval History, Medieval English, Medieval German, Romance Languages of the Middle Ages, Catholic Theology, and Prehistorical Archeology will receive free tuition plus a bursary of 1000 Euros per month for a period of 2 years. In addition, one Postdoc bursary (1416 Euros per month) in Ancient History (prerequisite: PhD in Ancient History), is available.
Foreign as well as German students with an M.A. degree or equivalent training, are invited to send their application in German, English or French to the Director of the Research Training Group:

Applications should comprise a CV, copies of university diplomas (with transcript, diploma supplement and/or a full list of courses followed), and, if possible, a sketch of the dissertation project envisaged. The doctoral dissertation should be completed within two years. Applicants should be able to begin their PhD-research immediately when coming to Bamberg. Continuation of a topic already explored in an M.A. oder B.A. thesis is possible and welcome.
