The UCD School of History is seeking to appoint a Lecturer / Assistant Professor in Asian history, broadly defined and with a focus on EITHER early modern or modern history.

Any research specialization within the extended period of c. 1500–c. 2000 will be considered, but the School has a preference for candidates who can complement existing research and teaching strengths of the department.

You will have a PhD in a relevant area, a proven teaching ability and a track record of high-quality research, demonstrated by publications. A proven ability to attract external funding would be an advantage.

The post holder will design and deliver teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the field of Asian history, contribute to the School’s MA in Global History, and will further enhance the School’s research profile through high quality publications, engagement with the wider public and external grant acquisition.

Note: It is anticipated that interviews will be held in Dublin in March 2018.

Salary: 95 Lecturer/Assistant Professor (below the bar) Scale: €33,479 - €58,760 per annum.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.

Contract Type: Temporary 3 Years
