Academic Coordinator
(Salary group 13 TV-L, 39,8h/week)

The position is available from January 1st, 2016 until December 31st, 2017. Prolongation of one more year is in the planning stage.

The Forum for Interdisciplinary Religious Studies (http://www.uni-goettingen.de/firef) is bringing together the many existing and upcoming research activities related to religious studies within the faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, Theology and Law at the University of Göttingen. It is providing opportunities for exchange and further development of new research contexts within long-standing, established structures. The FIRSt is a central component of the university’s strategy to interlink research on religious themes across different eras and disciplines.
The Lichtenberg-Kolleg (http://www.lichtenbergkolleg.uni-goettingen.de) is the Göttingen Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It furthers the development of innovative research perspectives and promotes international and interdisciplinary projects.

The academic coordinator is responsible for the following tasks:
- The coordination of research activities related to the topic of religious studies in the faculties of the Humanities, Social Sciences, Theology, and Law
- Identification and promotion of relevant research programs and funding sources, as well as the preparation and composition of applications for third-party funding,
- Strengthening cooperation between the FIRSt, the Lichtenberg-Kolleg and the Max-Planck-Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity.

Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- An academic degree (Master or Diploma) and a very good PhD on a topic of religious studies within the area of the social sciences or the humanities,
- Strong skills in interdisciplinary and intercultural communication – both spoken and written – in the German and English languages,
- Very good team and communication skills.

In addition, the following qualifications are advantageous:
- Experience in strategic research and organizational management through a position at a university or a non-university institution,
- A good knowledge of the European and German research and higher education systems.
