The Moses Mendelssohn Centre for European Jewish Studies at Potsdam University invites applications to fill a Visiting Professorship/Fellowship for two semesters during the 2012-2013 Academic Year (September 2012 - August 2013).
Applicants from a variety of disciplines are invited to apply. The candidate should hold at least a Ph.D. in a field of specialization such as Israel Studies, Jewish Studies, History, Political Science, Literature, International Studies, Cultural Studies, Sociology or Communications Studies. Fluency and undergraduate teaching experience in English are essential for consideration. The ability to teach also in German language is welcome.
The appointee will be expected to teach one course in each semester on topics relating to modern Israel, and should also be prepared to give lectures in the public program of the Centre for Jewish Studies Berlin-Brandenburg (Zentrum Jüdische Studien Berlin-Brandenburg).
The appointee should have been working on a specific research project in Modern Israel Studies. This project should be introduced in the Mendelssohn Centre, and its continuation will be supported by the Centre.
We also expect interest and readiness of cooperating in current projects of Israel Studies run by the Moses Mendelssohn Centre. Applicants should submit a letter of interest, a list of courses you are prepared to teach, a description of the present research project in the context of Israel Studies, C.V. and three confidential letters of reference by June 24th, 2012.
Following the german pay scale W2/W3.
