Die Basel Graduate School of History (BGSH) schreibt drei einjährige Startstipendien à je 25‘000 Fr. (ca. 20‘000 Euro, in zwei Tranchen mit Evaluierung) aus. Die Stipendien dienen der Unterstützung Graduierter während der Startphase des Doktorats, in welcher die Stipendiaten ein Forschungsprojekt ausarbeiten und sich mit diesem beim Schweizerischen Nationalfonds oder bei einer anderen Förderinstitution bewerben.

Erwartet wird eine hohe Motivation, als aktives Mitglied der Basel Graduate School of History ein eigenständiges, mehrjähriges Forschungsprojekt durchzuführen und sich in die wissenschaftlichen Debatten innerhalb und ausserhalb des Departements Geschichte einzubringen. Die Stipendien richten sich an Studierende, die über einen Masterabschluss oder ein Lizentiat in Geschichtswissenschaften verfügen, und die im Rahmen der am Departement Geschichte vertretenen Fachbereiche forschen möchten. Besonders erwünscht in dieser Ausschreibungsrunde sind Dissertationsvorhaben mit einem Fokus in mittelalterlicher und frühneuzeitlicher Geschichte und in der Geschichte Europas in transnationaler Perspektive sowie Projekte an der Schnittstelle zum Themenbereich der Kulturellen Topografien.

Der Antritt des Stipendiums erfolgt zum 1. April 2015.

The Basel Graduate School of History (BGSH) is offering three 1-year starter scholarships, each worth CHF 25,000 (approx. EUR 20,000, in two tranches with evaluation). Their purpose is to support graduates during the starting phase of their doctorate while the scholars are developing their research project and submitting it to the Swiss National Science Foundation, or other funding institution.

A high level of motivation is expected, with the ability to carry out a research project independently over the course of several years as an active member of the Basel Graduate School of History, and to contribute to academic debates both within and outside the Department of History. The scholarships are intended for graduates who hold a Master’s degree or a Licentiate in History, and who are interested in carrying out research within the fields of study represented at the Department of History. In this application round particular welcome will be given to dissertation proposals focusing on medieval and early modern history and on European history from a transnational perspective, as well as on projects interfacing with the topic of cultural topography.

The start date of the scholarship is the 1st of April 2015.

La Basel Graduate School of History (BGSH) met au concours trois bourses de début de thèse d’une durée d’une année. Le montant de chacune s’élève à 25'000.- CHF (environ 20'000 euros, en deux tranches avec évaluation). Les bourses doivent servir à soutenir les doctorants et doctorantes durant la phase de début de thèse, durant laquelle les boursiers et boursières doivent élaborer un projet de recherche et le déposer sous forme de requête auprès du Fonds national suisse ou d’une autre institution d’encouragement.

En tant que membre actif de la Graduate School of History, les doctorantes et doctorants doivent faire preuve d’une grande motivation, de la capacité à mener à bien un projet de recherche original et se déroulant sur plusieurs années, et enfin s’investir personnellement dans des débats scientifiques à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur du Département d’histoire. Les bourses s’adressent à des étudiants et étudiantes qui possèdent un Master ou une licence en histoire et qui désirent faire des recherches dans le cadre des domaines disciplinaires soutenus au sein du Département d’histoire. Les projets de thèses avec une focalisation sur l’histoire médiévale et moderne et sur l’histoire de l’Europe dans une perspective transnationale ainsi que des projets à la jonction du domaine thématique des « topographies culturelles » sont particulièrement appréciés pour ce round d’appel.

Début de la bourse : 1er avril 2015.
