Conference: Mars in Ascendant: The Great War and the Twentieth Century
A multidisciplinary conference to be held at University College Northampton, England, Tuesday 31 July - Saturday 4 August 2001.
For full details and an online registration form, please visit our Webpages at: http://www.northampton.ac.uk/ass/cul/marscall.htm
NB: The deadline for the Call for Papers has been extended to 15 April 2001. We have had an excellent response to date, but should like to broaden it even further to attract speakers and participants from more parts of the world, and an even wider range of subjects.
The conference:
There has not been a conference in the United Kingdom concerned with the implications of the Great War since 1994. In the interim period a great many new discoveries have been made with regard to Great War figures and events. For example, the revelations arising from the opening of the British Government's Great War archives as well as the revisionist theories as to the causes and results of the War put forth in Niall Ferguson's "The Pity of War" all demand attention.
Proposals for papers to be presented at the conference should be sent directly by e-mail, e-mail attachments or airmail before 15 April 2001 to:
